Trail Dirt Bike Trail Ride Information

Here are the details for the event:

Description:

The Twin Cities Trail Riders, with the cooperation of the Rum Runners Motorcycle Club, is offering a trail ride for vintage dirt bikes, 25 years old and older, on Sunday June 21st in the Rum River State Forest.  Riders will enjoy cruising over a five-mile loop of single-track forest trail.  We will also have a bike show and awards for classes of dual shock and single shock models.

The Rum Runners will be offering a brats and chips lunch and are asking for a $5 donation.  Bring your own beverage.

Location:

The event is being held in the Daily Pit section of the Rum River State Forest about ten miles south of Mille Lacs Lake and about a 1.25-hour drive for the Twin Cities.

Directions:

From the town of Milaca, go north on MN 169 for 14.5 miles, turn L on CR 8/290th St. Go three miles and turn L onto the state forest road marked with an orange enduro arrow. Proceed to the trailhead.

Riding Opportunities:

Ride the single-track trails in the Rum River State Forest. Trails will be event arrowed/marked. Guided rides will also be available.

The terrain is mostly flat.  Single-track trails wind through the forest and range from easy to more challenging.

​

There will be over five miles of single track trail and some two-track minimum maintenance roads to ride.

Costs:

$20 entry fee - $5 discount for club members
Primitive camping in the State Forest is FREE.

Lunch is available for a $5 donation.

Hours:

9:00 AM - 2:00 PM - Saturday, June 21st, 2025
Primitive dispersed camping and be done at any time in the State Forest.

Requirements:

  • Must have a DNR OHM sticker on all bikes OR an Out of State Non-Resident OHM trail pass for all riders.

  • Reasonable sound level please.

  • Bike must have a USFS approved spark arrestor

  • ARMCA/District 23 membership; non-competition ($10/person or $25/family) or competition card
